Saffron and Ryan chose Stourhead in the autumn for their wedding, as Saffron has particular family connections with the area, playing in the fields behind the hills in her grandma farm when she was a child. The colours were just pre-autumnal, soft with some browns appearing within the leaves, the air was still and the whole place felt steady and relaxed. It set the tone for the day perfectly.
They held their ceremony at one of the temples that overlook the water. Close family gathered inside while friends stood on the steps and lawns outside. Saffron and Ryan stayed at the entrance, with the lake behind them and the late afternoon light settling across the scene. Their vows carried clearly across the space. A simple, sincere moment that felt right for them.
After the ceremony we took a gentle walk through the gardens, through the grotto and on the famous bridge over the lake. We then hopped into a transporter for a special visit at the Alfred’s Tower, a place that has a very personal meaning for them.
They talked, laughed, dried a tears and eased into the afternoon. The portraits came naturally as we moved, with few indications here and there rather than stopping and posing. It felt like a quiet break for them before heading back to their guests. To enjoy pizza, dancing with the vibrant music from their favourite band, a few sparklers and more dances to finish the night.
Stourhead has a way of settling everything into place. The colours, the reflections on the water, the sense of space. It matched the atmosphere of the day and supported the story without taking attention away from the people in it.
From their time on the bridge to the dancing that followed later, each photograph holds a small part of who they are. Real moments, unforced and true to how the day felt.
This wedding was covered within my La Moderna option, which offers a relaxed eight hour coverage that fits many weddings perfectly.
